🌿 About Me

Hi, I’m Ed. I create bespoke planted aquariums and natural aquascapes for people who want something beautiful, calming and alive within their home, workspace or interior setting. Aquascaping has become one of the great creative passions of my life. It brings together nature, design, patience and care in a way that feels completely unique.

A well‑designed planted aquarium is not just a fish tank — it is a living landscape shaped with plants, stone, wood, light, movement and time. My aim is to help people enjoy that beauty without feeling overwhelmed by the technical side of keeping an aquarium healthy and balanced.

🌱 A Natural Approach to Aquarium Design

My aquascapes are inspired by nature. I am drawn to the feeling of riverbanks, forest floors, submerged roots, quiet pools and small natural details that are easy to miss. The best aquariums, in my view, are not overcomplicated or artificial — they feel settled, balanced and quietly alive.

Every aquarium is different. The right design depends on the space it sits in, the mood you want it to create, the plants and livestock involved, and the amount of ongoing care you want to take on yourself. That is why I prefer a considered, personal approach rather than forcing every client into the same setup.

💧 Designed With Care, Not Guesswork

A planted aquarium can look effortless when it is finished, but behind that calm appearance there are many important decisions. Lighting, filtration, CO₂, substrate, plant choice, water flow, fish selection and maintenance all affect one another. If those choices are not thought through properly from the start, the aquarium can quickly become stressful instead of enjoyable.

My role is to make the process feel clear, manageable and enjoyable. I help clients understand what is realistic, what will suit their space, and what kind of planted aquarium will give them the best chance of long‑term success.

🩺 A Background Built on Care and Detail

Alongside aquascaping, I work as a nurse. Although nursing and aquarium design may seem very different, both have shaped the way I approach this work. They both require patience, observation, calm decision‑making and respect for living systems.

That sense of care is central to how I design aquariums. I want them to look beautiful, but I also want them to be healthy, stable and properly suited to the fish, plants and invertebrates that live within them. For me, a successful aquascape is not just about the first impression — it is about how the aquarium settles, matures and continues to bring enjoyment over time.

🌊 For People Who Want More Than a Basic Aquarium

My bespoke, individual services are for people who want something more considered than a “standard” fish tank. You may be looking for a peaceful planted aquarium for your home, a natural focal point for a room, or a beautifully maintained aquarium that adds life and atmosphere to a workspace.
You may already have an aquarium that needs redesigning, or you may be starting from the beginning and want guidance before investing in equipment, plants and livestock. Whatever stage you are at, my focus is the same: to help create an aquarium that feels personal, natural and properly supported.

🌟 Personal, Selective and Thoughtful

At this stage, I take on selected aquascaping projects where I know I can give the design the time, attention and care it deserves. I am not trying to rush through as many aquariums as possible — I prefer working with clients who genuinely value the process and want a planted aquarium that has been properly thought through.
If you are looking for a quick, low‑cost fix, I may not always be the right fit. But if you want a natural planted aquarium that feels beautiful, calm and carefully designed, I would be very happy to talk through what is possible.

🍃 Inspired by the Nature Aquarium

One of my strongest influences is the Nature Aquarium philosophy made famous by Takashi Amano. His work showed how aquariums could become living landscapes, using nature itself as the starting point for design.
The smallest details matter — the angle of a piece of wood, the texture of stone, the way plants soften over time, the movement of fish through open space. These are the things that make an aquarium feel alive rather than simply decorated.

🗣️ Begin Your Aquarium Project

If you are thinking about a planted aquarium for your home, office or interior space, the best place to start is with a conversation. Tell me about the space, the style you are drawn to, and the kind of feeling you would like the aquarium to create.
From there, I can help you understand the options, the level of support that would suit you best, and how we can begin shaping a planted aquarium that feels calm, natural and beautifully considered.

To know Mother Nature, is to love her smallest creations.
